Recycling goes to school

New recycling bins delivered to every class

Register staff report

RICHMOND — Carolyn Jennings, Environmental Awareness Educator with Richmond Recycles, visited all the county schools Friday to spread awareness about recycling.

With a grant from the Kentucky Division of Waste Management, Richmond Recycles purchased 500 recycling bins and distributed them to schools so they can participate in the Go Green with Schools program.

The grant provided a recycling bin for every classroom from preschool through high school.

“Recycling begins with the children,” Jennings said, “If we reach the kids at an early age, then we hope they will be environmentally friendly when they are older.”
