MADISON COUNTY —
Students in the Madison County school district will get a day off Wednesday when the Madison Central High School boys basketball team is scheduled to play its first-round game in the state tournament known as the Sweet 16.
The announcement was posted on the high school’s and school district’s websites. School Superintendent Tommy Floyd also posted the news on his Facebook page.
This is the first time a Madison County team has made the tournament since MCHS qualified in 2006.
Central will go against Wayne County at noon Wednesday in Lexington’s Rupp Arena.
“There will be plenty of tickets available,” the superintendent stated in his Facebook posting.
More details would be posted on the district’s as well as Madison Central’s websites, he stated.
By 6 p.m., however, no additional details were available.
