Enjoying their 14th snow day of the school year, a group of Madison County School students enjoyed a slope in front of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Richmond on Tuesday.
Warming temperatures melted the snow into a hard-packed surface that crunched with every footfall and provided prime sledding conditions.
Neil Browning scouted the hill during the last snowfall and thought it would be the perfect spot for his gang on Tuesday.
With the sun shining bright on the slopes, Browning thought it was great weather for sledding.
“I’m actually kind of sweating out here,” he said.
His children, Ryan, 10, and Ryder, 8, along with friends Izzy Jones, 10, Eli Jones, 9, and Cannon Spivey, 7, paired up in a variety of combinations as they sped down the hill. A few attempted to “get some air” as they flew over a dip in the slope. Occasionally, a sledder had to be reminded to stop before sliding into the creek below.
