Toy gun prompts lock down at school

Letter sent home to parents

Register staff report

RICHMOND — A letter was sent home today to the parents of B. Michael Caudill Middle School students following an investigation into a possible weapon at the school.

School officials took immediate action and discovered that a student had a toy gun in his possession, according to a news release by Madison County Schools.

“After a thorough investigation with assistance from the school resource officer and Richmond Police Department, we feel confident that the students are safe at school,” the release stated.

The students in question will face appropriate disciplinary consequences.

The letter was sent home to inform parents about the situation and also to reinforce with students the importance of not bringing dangerous items to school; even a toy gun is never allowed on campus, according to the release.
