Berea police recover weapon, make arrest in armed robbery
About five minutes after an armed robbery was reported 8:16 a.m. Monday at the Dollar General on Prince Royal Drive, Berea, police arrested a suspect and then recovered a pistol.
Man unloading vehicle robbed at gunpoint
A Richmond man told police early Friday morning that he was robbed at gunpoint while unloading items from his vehicle on Oldham Avenue.
Coroner: Heroin is an epidemic in Madison County

Coroner and EMS director Jimmy Cornelison knows first-hand what kills people in his community, and Madison County has not been left out of the heroin epidemic sweeping the state.
A heroin overdose caused the death of an Eastern Kentucky College student last month, Cornelison told the crowd at the “Heroin in the Headlines” workshop Thursday in Richmond.
Twins receive lengthy sentences in shooting case
Twin brothers who were accused of firing several rounds at another man in downtown Richmond in April 2012 were sentenced Friday in Madison Circuit Court.
Elton and Eltron Bailey, 23, originally were charged with attempted murder in the shooting on East Main Street, which was captured on surveillance video. No one was injured in the incident.
Burglars go after tools, guns electronics
The following thefts and burglaries were reported Wednesday:
• A resident in the 100 block of Spurlin Mobile Home Park reported that a storage building behind his home had been broken into during the night and several tools were stolen. Entry was gained by prying loose the hasp. The following items were reported missing: an Ace Hardware 10-inch chop saw, gray and red in color; a Milwaukee band saw in a red case; and a RotoZip saw with a tool bag and extra blades. Estimated loss is $850.
Waco man facing rape charge jumps from ambulance
A Waco man facing rape and other charges attempted to escape from deputies Thursday by jumping out of an ambulance on the way to the hospital, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
Police agencies make arrests in connection with thefts
Richmond police charged Bobby Samples, 26, Richmond, on Monday in connection with a stolen pickup truck and vehicle parts.
The owner of Auto Medic on Estill Avenue reported Oct. 16 that all four wheels were stolen off a Chevrolet 1500 pickup on his lot during the night. The wheels were described as after-market rims that looked like a star. Two custom headlights also were stolen.
Student charged in math teacher's death
A high school math teacher in suburban Boston was murdered Tuesday night, and a 14-year-old student has been charged in her death.
Former Holiday Motel employee charged with theft
An employee of Holiday Motel in Berea was charged Friday with stealing from the business.

A couple was charged with robbery Sunday after a store manager said the woman assaulted him after trying to steal candy and honey buns.
