Sex crime cases involving 11-year-old victim sent to grand jury

Register staff report

RICHMOND — A Madison County judge sent two sex crime cases involving an 11-year-old victim to the grand jury on Wednesday.

Eric Nelson Kelley, 30, was charged Nov. 19 with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and two counts of sexual abuse, according to a Madison County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Robbie Lynn Uhrin, 58, was charged Nov. 20 with first-degree sexual abuse.

Both men are listed as being from Richmond on the Madison County Detention Center’s website.

The sheriff’s department began investigating the allegations three months ago after receiving a complaint from a worker from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, the release stated.

After “countless hours” of investigation, the sheriff’s department obtained arrest warrants for both men.

Uhrin and Kelley appeared Wednesday in Madison District Court for preliminary hearings. In both cases, the judge found probable cause and held the cases over to the grand jury.

If the grand jury decides to indict the men on felony charges, the cases will proceed in Madison Circuit Court.
