Register Staff Report
RICHMOND — Eastern Kentucky University police have made a second arrest in a robbery that occurred Sunday night at a residence hall.
David D. Emmanuel, 20, of Dade City, Fla., was charged Thursday morning with first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery. He is an EKU student and a resident of Combs Hall, according to university spokesman Marc Whitt.
Zain Gilmore, 19, of Tampa, Fla., received the same charges following his arrest Tuesday in connection with the robbery. He also is a student and a resident of Clay Hall, where the reported robbery occurred, according to Whitt.
Three male students reported Sunday that two men came into their Clay Hall dorm room and brandished handguns. The robbers wore white masks and fled on foot afterward, Whitt said.
Campus police did not disclose what was taken, stating the incident was still under investigation.
Gilmore was a member of the EKU football team but was dismissed from the team last week, according to Whitt. Emmanuel is currently on the team roster but has been suspended pending the outcome of the case.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the EKU Police Department at 622-1111.
