RICHMOND — A Richmond man was indicted Wednesday on charges related to the sexual abuse and forcible sodomy of a female victim.

The grand jury charged Keith Allen Taylor, 48, with two counts of first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse. Between Aug. 1, 2011 and July 23, 2012, Allen is accused of subjecting a person to forcible sexual contact and forcible deviate sexual intercourse, according to the indictment.

Allen was arrested July 23 after a teenage victim told police that he had “unwanted and improper sexual contact with her on this date and two occasions in 2011,” according to an RPD news release.

Allen was charged after an interview at the Richmond Police Department, the release stated.

First-degree sexual abuse is a Class D felony, which carries a sentence of one to five years in prison. First-degree sodomy is punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison as the charge is a Class B felony.

The following people also were indicted Wednesday:

• Stephen Robinson, 22, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone) and theft by unlawful taking (less than $500).

• Glenn S. Sanders, 40, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Jacqueline F. Coffey, 44, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone), third-degree possession of a controlled substance (diazepam), theft by unlawful taking (under $500) and illegal possession of a legend drug (hydroxyzine).

• Jewell Conner, 35, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methadone) and third-degree possession of a controlled substance (clonazepam).

• Christopher Prather, 28, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone).

An indictment is a formal statement of charges and does not imply guilt, only that grand jurors believe the state has enough evidence to proceed with prosecution.
