A ninth Richmond business was struck by a “smash-and-grab” burglar this weekend.
Home Tech Solutions, 210 Geri Lane, reported Sunday morning that the front door of the business had been shattered.
Richmond police checked the business and did not find any intruders, the police report stated.
Items reported stolen were a Sony 40-inch television, an unknown brand TV, an unknown brand computer monitor and two Dish Network receivers.
The total loss is $1,000.
This is the ninth business to be burglarized in the same manner since March, according to reports from the RPD. Concord Cleaners on the Eastern Bypass has been hit twice.
The RPD has stepped up patrols in the city during the night in response to the business break-ins, according to Assistant Chief Bob Mott.
Another business on Geri Lane was burglarized over the weekend. The front door of Hundley Psychological Services was forced open, but nothing was stolen.
Gun, tablet taken from vehicle at Red Lobster
A patron of Red Lobster told police Sunday that several items had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle that afternoon while it was parked at the restaurant.
The items taken were a a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver, 5-shot, stainless steel, with a black holster; a Nook color tablet inside a brown designer bag; a red and gray Columbia jacket; a Thirty-One floral print bag; a make-up bag; phone chargers; and a white Thirty-One bag.
The estimated loss is $1,185.
- An employee of Madison Manor, Meadowlark Drive, reported Monday that a small, black Sentry safe containing approximately $600 had been stolen from her office over the weekend. There were no signs of forced entry, according to the RPD.
A complainant reported that he inadvertently left his cell phone on the counter at Exxon Friendly Mart, 2121 Lexington Road, while making a purchase that morning.
When he realized his error, he returned to the gas station but the phone had been stolen, according to an RPD report.
A suspect was seen taking the phone, which is worth $600. It is a white 16 GB Samsung Galaxy S III cell phone in a white plastic case. The carrier is T-Mobile.
