Police make DUI, drug arrest

RICHMOND — A traffic stop for reckless driving on Lexington Road early Friday morning ended in drug-possession charges for a North Keeneland Drive woman.

Melissa A. Story, 25, was charged with first- and second-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree promoting contraband, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

At 2:02 a.m., an officer stopped the a vehicle that was being driven erratically by Story, according to a Richmond police report.

The officer reported that he found Story too impaired to drive. After arresting her on a DUI charge, he searched her and found several Xanax pills, a Klonopin pill, a small amount of methamphetamine and two small straws containing suspected drug residue, the RPD report stated.

Several needles and syringes reportedly were found in her purse when Story got to the Madison County Detention Center, which led to the felony charge of first-degree promoting contraband.

Report made of jewelry stolen from McCready Manor resident

A complainant reported Wednesday that several pieces of jewelry, worth a total of $1,650, had been stolen from a relative’s room at McCready Manor some time during the past three months. The missing items were a 2.5 cent gold piece on a necklace; a gold rectangular ring with an amber stone; a gold ring with a jade movable ball setting; a silver rounded pinky ring; a man’s gold wedding band; and various unidentified rings and necklaces.

Other thefts:

• A resident in the 500 block of Hillsdale Avenue reported Tuesday that a Vizio 32-inch LED television had been stolen from his unlocked apartment during the early evening. The TV is worth $200.

• A resident in the 200 block of Teakwood Drive reported Thursday that a Garmin Nuvi, lottery tickets and loose change had been stolen from her parked and unlocked car during the night. Estimated loss is $100.

  • CCDW instructor indicted on charges of failing to provide training

    A Madison County grand jury has indicted a carry-concealed weapons permit instructor on charges he falsely claimed to have provided instruction to one person for a CCDW permit and provided incomplete training to three others.
    Christopher D. Fins was indicted April 9 on one count of CCDW instructor not providing firearms training and three counts of providing incomplete firearms training.
    Fins faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of all four felony charges.
