Richmond police charged Isaac Hamilton, 20, of South Killarney Lane, with two counts of theft by unlawful taking under $500 Tuesday after he allegedly stole from his employer.
Hamilton, a former employee of Sonic on Big Hill Avenue, left the drive-in restaurant May 15 with $273.84, a change dispenser and a pair of roller skates and did not return, the business reported to police.
Hamilton was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, but released Thursday on a $1,000 bond, according to jail records.
Charge made in theft from business
Jaquentin Jenkins, 22, of Maple Hill Drive, was charged Wednesday with theft by unlawful taking under $10,000 in connection to a theft from Hibbett Sports in the Richmond Centre.
A representative of Hibbett Sports reported to Richmond police that Jenkins, an employee, had stolen $6,046.87 from the store between December 2012 and May 2013 by creating fraudulent returns and pocketing the money.
Jenkins was taken to the detention center, from which he was released later that day on a $7,500 bond.
Man charged with drug possession, bond violation
Jeffrey King, 24, from Bradbury Pointe Drive was arrested Tuesday in the 400 block of the Eastern Bypass on a bond violation charge and was then charged with drug possession.
At approximately 6 p.m. RPD bike patrol officers arrested King on a bond violation charge connected to a previous arrest on controlled substance trafficking charges.
As King was searched at the detention center, officers discovered a baggie containing suspected cocaine and a another containing suspected heroin, according to the police report.
He was then charged with two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance. He remained in jail Thursday afternoon under a $15,000 bond.
• A resident of Race Street reported Saturday that two recreational vehicles were stolen from his residence overnight. A red 2006 Honda CR50 dirt bike was stolen from his front porch, and a purple, yellow and silver 2001 Banshee 350 rear wheel drive ATV was stolen from the rear patio. Estimated loss: $2,400.
• On Monday, a man reported several tools were stolen from his father’s pickup truck Sunday morning while it was parked at Lowe’s. Reported missing were a box of beige-colored caulk, two cordless Porter Cable circular saws, a Porter Cable impact driver, two cordless Porter Cable sawzalls, four Porter Cable tool batteries and two Porter Cable battery chargers. Estimated loss: $470.
• On Tuesday, a representative of Radio Shack reported a Uniden Home Patrol scanner was stolen from the store early in the afternoon. Estimated loss: $520.
• Also on Tuesday, a man reported a yellow Eureka bagless upright vacuum cleaner and an unknown brand laptop were stolen from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked at Lowe’s. Estimated loss: $151.
