Madison County Sheriff’s deputies

Register staff report

MADISON COUNTY — One person was arrested and $7,000 in cash and a quantity of oxycodone tablets were seized when Madison County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant Tuesday in the 100 block of South  Killarney Lane, according to Deputy Willard Reardon.

Deshawn Booth, 34, of Richmond, was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, including more than 10 dose units of oxycodone, Readon said.

Booth was taken to the Madison County Detention Center, where he remained Wednesday evening under a $15,000 bond.

“One of my concerns as the Madison County Sheriff is drugs in my county,” Sheriff Jerry Combs stated in the news release disclosing Booth’s arrest and the drug/cash seizure.

“I have always said that I would do whatever it takes to combat drugs, and Tuesday night we took another step in taking drugs off the streets of our county. We will continue to do our part in eliminating drugs and its dealers.”
