Detroit man, two locals charged with trafficking heroin, marijuana

RICHMOND — A Detroit man and two Richmond residents were charged Friday morning after Richmond bike patrol officers and narcotics detectives executed a search warrant on a Dee Dee Drive home.

According to a Richmond police report, Michael Lewis, 24, of Detroit, Benjamin G. Masters, 26, and Paula L. Miller, 48, both of Richmond, were charged with drug trafficking and other offenses as a result of the search.

Officers encountered Lewis and Masters as they entered the home. Inside, officers found small amounts of heroin and marijuana along with several items of drug paraphernalia, including syringes, scales and spoons, the report stated. In addition, police said they found $2,870 on Lewis’ person.

Lewis was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Masters was charged with criminal facilitation of trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class A misdemeanors.

The two were lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, where they remained Monday afternoon, according to the jail’s online records.

Miller, identified as another resident of the home, also was charged with facilitation of trafficking later the same day. The charge was placed against her at the detention center, where she was being held on unrelated misdemeanor charges, the report stated.
