Four charged with illegally occupying a foreclosed home

(Continued)

RICHMOND —

The officer met with the victim who reported that at 1:30 a.m., she heard loud banging on the front door that she feared would awaken three sleeping children so she opened the door. Her former boyfriend, Withers, entered the residence accompanied by his sister, the woman told police.

The victim reported that Withers began verbally berating her, grabbing her face and threatening to strike her. Withers then forcibly took the victim’s cellular telephone and he left the residence with his sister, the RPD report stated.

The woman also said Withers slashed the tires on the her vehicle before he left.

A short time later, he returned and entered the residence uninvited, according to the RPD. Withers is accused of again verbally berating the victim and grabbing her by the neck and arms.

Withers then produced a pocket knife and threatened the victim before leaving the residence again, after which the victim said she locked the doors. Withers returned again but could not gain entry and eventually left the scene, according to the RPD report.

Officers found Withers at his residence and recovered the victim’s phone along with the aforementioned pocket knife, the report stated.

He was taken to the police station, where he was interviewed and then charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, first-degree wanton endangerment and third-degree criminal mischief.

He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call the Richmond Police Department at 623-1162.
