Man indicted on meth-making, endangerment charges

Woman also charged with child-endangerment

RICHMOND — A Richmond man was indicted Wednesday by a Madison grand jury on charges of making methamphetamine and fourth-degree chemical endangerment endangerment of a child.

Charles S. Sparks, 43, also was indicted on charges of marijuana trafficking (8 oz. to 5 lbs.) and marijuana possession.

Kentucky State Police found a meth lab after executing a warrant June 7 at an apartment on Villa Drive, according to a police report. A child also was discovered in the home.

The child was taken to Baptist Health-Richmond for observation and then released to family members, according to the KSP.

Another person at the apartment, 24-year-old Whitney Elizabeth Berryman, also was indicted Wednesday on a charge of fourth-degree chemical endangerment of a child.

Sparks faces a maximum of 30 years in prison if convicted on all charges. Berryman could receive a maximum of five years in prison.

Others indicted Wednesday were:

• Juan-Carlos Blanco, four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (first offense) and failure of owner to maintain required insurance.

• Lisa D. Hacker, first-degree bail jumping.

• Pamela Gail Horne, theft by unlawful taking (less than $10,000). Horne is accused of taking a 1994 Dodge Dakota that belongs to Danny Ashcraft, according to the indictment.

• Dana J. Yeary, two counts of first-degree promoting contraband and two counts of tampering with physical evidence. Yeary is accused of introducing hydrocodone and diazepam into the Madison County Detention Center, according to the indictment.

• Kelley Dillard, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (heroine).

Grand jury indictments do not indicate guilt, only that grand jurors believe the state has enough evidence to proceed with prosecution.
