Richmond man charged with fleeing police

A man’s flight from police through downtown Richmond ended with his arrest Friday evening.

Darrell Walker, 41, Riva Ridge Road, was charged with second-degree fleeing and evading police and possession of marijuana.

Officers reported seeing Walker on foot in the 500 block of West Main Street and knew there were warrants for his arrest.

When the officers approached him, he fled on foot. He was subsequently found near Tates Creek Road and Sunset Avenue, and he was taken into custody.

Walker had a small amount of marijuana on him when he was arrested, according to the RPD.

A Pulaski County indictment warrant was served on Walker on a felony charge of flagrant nonsupport. He also had a warrant out of Madison District Court for failure to appear.

Cell phone reported stolen while owner at local park

A complainant reported Saturday that her white Samsung Galaxy S2, worth $500, had been stolen while she was at Irvine-McDowell Park on Lancaster Avenue during the mid-day hours.

• A resident in the 200 block of North Madison Avenue reported Friday that her unlocked vehicle was unlawfully entered during the night. Missing items were a white Aeropostle bag, a childcare textbook and a black ASUS laptop computer. Estimated loss is $670.

• A resident in the 400 block of Oak Street reported Thursday that two rings, worth $10,000, had been stolen from her home during the night of March 8. There were several visitors to the residence on that date, according to the RPD.

The missing items are a ladies’ 14K yellow gold engagement ring with a round, one-carat diamond setting surrounded by smaller princess-cut diamonds, size 6.75; and a ladies’ 14K yellow gold anniversary ring with five small, round diamonds totaling two carats in the setting, size 7.

• A complainant reported March 25 that several items had been stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at the Strauss Family Clinic on St. George Street during the afternoon. There were no signs of forced entry, according to the RPD.

The missing items, worth a total of $3,145, are a Ka-Bar Wart Hog fixed-blade knife; a 16-inch ASP; a Garmin Nuvi 1350 LMT GPS unit; a backpack containing clothing; $800 in cash; two LED flashlights; a black iPod Nano, 8GB; a bottle of Abercrombie cologne; a pair of Oakley sun glasses; a Kenwood stereo CD remote; numerous CDs; and two bottles of prescription medication.

• A resident in the 1000 block of Blackwell Court reported March 22 that a teal-colored Tool Source box full of tools had been stolen from his vehicle some time during the previous three days. The estimated loss is $300.

    Deanna Lawson, charged with 20 counts of complicity in the rape and sodomy of a minor, pleaded guilty in Madison Circuit Court on Wednesday.
    Between October 2011 and September 2012, Eric Kelley had sexual relations with Lawson’s two daughters, according to court documents.
    She was charged with complicity after police said they learned Lawson knew of the crimes but didn’t try to stop them or alert authorities.

    Anthony and Kathy Hart, two Madison County residents who pleaded guilty May 21 to prostituting their daughters, won’t be seeing any extra time in jail.
    Both parents, who served time in jail while their charges were pending, were sentenced to probation Thursday in Madison Circuit Court.

    In December 2013, the Richmond Police Narcotics Unit purchased a quantity of suboxone strips from Ryan Anderson, 30, and Chastity L. King, 28, on two occasions during a covert investigation, according to an RPD news release.
