RPD: Road rage incident leads to charges

RICHMOND — A man who police allege brandished a handgun at another driver when he failed to immediately go at a green light was charged Monday.

James R. Pierson, 61, Greens Crossing, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, third-degree terroristic threatening and menacing.

A motorist reported Monday morning that after stopping at a red light on the Eastern Bypass at Porter Drive, another driver approached him when he failed to immediately go when the light turned green.

The other driver, identified as Pierson, is accused of approaching the man’s car and threatening him while brandishing a handgun, according to an RPD report.

Pierson returned to his vehicle and drove away and striking the rear of the motorist’s vehicle, the report stated.

Richmond officers later found Pierson in a driveway on Curtis Pike and recovered the handgun from the vehicle, according to the report. Pierson was taken to the Madison County Detention Center.

Theft warrant served after tools recovered

Police charged Christina Bratcher, 26, Garden City Drive, on Tuesday in connection with a theft that occurred the previous week.

A  resident in the 1000 block of Brandy Lane reported July 22 that several tools were stolen from his unlocked vehicle during the night. The following items were reported missing: an unknown brand   2.25-inch drill; a Dewalt laser; a Dewalt grinder; a Rigid drill; a Bosch hammer drill; and a bag of miscellaneous hand tools. The estimated loss is $1,569                       

The follow-up investigation determined that Bratcher had been in possession of the Bosch hammer drill, the Dewalt laser and the Dewalt grinder shortly after the theft and had transferred the items to another party, according to an RPD report.

All three items were recovered by police. The recovered items are valued at $910.

A warrant was issued Tuesday for Bratcher’s arrest, charging her with receiving stolen property (under $10,000) and three counts of theft by deception. On the same day, the warrant was served on Bratcher at the Madison County Detention Center where she was incarcerated on unrelated charges.
