Two Boone Tavern workers report attempted robbery

RICHMOND — Two Boone Tavern workers were victims of an attempted robbery Wednesday night.

A news release about the incident was sent out Monday by the Berea Police Department.

The woman told police she had gotten off work from Boone Tavern at 9:30 p.m. and was walking on Jackson Street behind the restaurant’s parking lot.

A man came out from behind a bush and demanded money from her while holding a knife, the release stated.

The woman said she yelled, which caused the man to run away. A co-worker heard the scream and saw the robber running away, according to the release. He also demanded money from the co-worker as he ran past.

The man ran across the street toward the area of Union Church, the BPD said. A K-9 was called to the scene and was able to track the robber past Union Church to an open field near the Berea College greenhouse where the scent was lost.

Officers were unable to find the man.

The man was wearing a ski mask, black pants and a black-and-gray shirt. He is approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 130 pounds.

No one was injured in the incident, and he did not get money from either woman.
