Berea police make arrest in Dollar General robbery

BEREA — Floyd Neeley, 42, was charged Sunday with second-degree robbery.

A Dollar General clerk said two men took two chairs and loaded them into the back of a pickup truck. When the store manager approached them, one of the men pulled a fixed-blade knife from a sheath on his belt and displayed it, according to the Berea police report.

The manager went back inside the Prince Royal Drive store and saw the man with the knife come in. He concealed a shirt under his clothing and carried a second shirt in his hand, the report stated.

The man continued to display the knife the entire time he was in the store and left without paying for any of the merchandise, the manager told police.

The merchandise is valued at $50.

After investing, police obtained an arrest warrant for Neeley.  He was arrested Sunday and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

The identity of the second man is unknown, according to the BPD report.

Police charge man with meth possession

Berea police arrested Donald Smith, 28, Berea, on Saturday on several charges, including possession of methamphetamine.

An officer reported seeing Smith walking in the roadway on Blue Lick Road. He was extremely nervous and had constricted pupils, according to the report.

The officer conducted a pat down and reported feeling something in Smith’s right pants pocket. Smith told the officer that it was a syringe, and the officer removed it from the pocket, the report stated.

Smith also is alleged to have had a spoon, a red container and a pair of brass knuckles in his pocket. He reportedly told the officer that the red container contained meth. The subject said he had been up for two days and had just taken a hit of meth, according to the report.

The substance in the red container field-tested positive for meth, the BPD reported.  Smith was arrested and taken to the Madison County Detention Center.
