BPD traffic stop results in drug, weapons charges

BEREA — A traffic stop on Prospect Street earlier this month led to police arresting two men on drug and weapons charges.

William Creech, 20, and Robert Hager, 36, both of Berea, both were charged Nov. 1 with first-degree possession of a controlled substance. Creech also was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Berea officers conducted a traffic stop on the men’s vehicle on Prospect Street for a minor traffic offense, according to a BPD news release. Creech, who was the driver, gave officers consent to search the vehicle, the release stated.

The officers reported finding two plastic bags of marijuana and a set of scales on Creech. Two Percocet tablets and a .40 caliber handgun also were discovered in the vehicle, according to the release.

Handgun reported stolen in Berea

A resident in the 200 block of Jefferson Street reported Saturday that a handgun, worth $250, had been stolen from her home.

Other thefts:

• Officers were called Nov. 1 to storage buildings on North Dogwood Drive where a person told them the lock had been cut off the building and several items were taken. The complainant did not have an estimated value of the stolen items at the time the report was taken, according to the BPD news release.

• A resident in the 1000 block of Scaffold Cane Road reported Oct. 31 that his pressure washer, worth $200, had been stolen from his residence.

• A resident in the 100 block of Newport Lane reported Oct. 31 that a tailgate valued at $500 had been stolen from his pickup truck.

Misdemeanor arrests

From Oct. 30 to Saturday, Berea police officers charged two people with alcohol intoxication, one person with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, one person with second-degree possession of a controlled substance, one person with DUI (first offense), one person with DUI (third offense) and driving on a suspended license, and one person with theft (shoplifting) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
