Three Detroit men charged with heroin-trafficking

Two men face burglary charges

Police charged James J. Williams, 43, Stuben Lane, and Joseph M. Sargent, 29, North Second Street, Tuesday in connection with the burglary of a South Collins Street home.

Sargent also was charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance (Suboxone), tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers responded at 1:49 a.m. to a burglary report at the home in the 200 block of South Collins Street.

One of the officers reported seeing Williams and Sargent outside the residence carrying clothing and other items from the home. Sargent was immediately apprehended, but Williams fled on foot, the report stated.

The other officers found Williams hiding in the wood line behind Nikki’s Tavern, and he was detained.

The investigation revealed that Williams and Sargent went to the residence to settle an ongoing dispute, the RPD reported. The resident refused the two men entry so they allegedly forced open the front door, entered the residence and removed a wallet and clothing belonging to the victim.

On the way to the police station for questioning, an officer reported seeing Sargent attempt to swallow a Suboxone strip. Two syringes also were found in his pocket, the report stated.

Man charged in two thefts

A South Collins Street man faces theft-related charges in connection with 2012 and 2013 cases.

Joshua D. Coleman, 34, was arrested Thursday at his home, according to a Richmond police report.

He was charged with receiving stolen property (under $500) in the theft of a Snap-On air ratchet from Madison Transmission, which was reported to police Oct. 11, 2012.

The ratchet was later recovered from another party to whom Colman was believed to have transferred the tool after the theft, the report stated.

On Feb. 19, 2013, the director of the Living Clean Recovery Center, East Irvine Street, reported that a number of items had been stolen from the center including three glass bakery display cases; a Cuisinart espresso machine; two Canon digital cameras; six cans of unopened paint; a commercial meat slicer; a commercial deep fryer; and a Winston sign. Estimated loss: $2,295.

Kayla D. Pauly, 23, East Irvine Street, was charged with complicity in the thefts, and Coleman was identified as a suspect in the case.

Coleman was taken to the Madison County Detention Center.
