Man charged in Berea park concession stand burglary

BEREA —

• A resident in the 100 block of Adams Street reported Saturday that a 4x8 trailer was stolen from his residence. Estimated loss: $990.

• A resident in the 100 block of Lorraine Court reported Thursday that her purse was stolen from her vehicle during the night.

• Officers were called Oct. 2 to Big Hill Road near Indian Fort Theater in reference to property damage. The victim stated that two windows were broken out of a trackhoe. Estimated loss: $1,000.

• A resident in the 100 block of Adams Street reported Sept. 29 that his lawn mower had been stolen. Estimated loss: $1,500.

• A resident in the 200 block of Boone Street reported Sept. 29 that a backpack was stolen with several items inside. She stated that her roommates had a party with approximately 100 people and her backpack was stolen from inside the residence. Estimated loss: $710.

 

Misdemeanor arrests

From Sept. 27 to Saturday, officers with the Berea Police Department made the following misdemeanor arrests:

• One person for operating a motor vehicle under the influence (first offense)

• One person for shoplifting from Walmart ($44.38).

• One person for shoplifting and criminal trespass at Walmart.

• One person for public intoxication.

• One person for operating a motor vehicle under the influence (second offense) and disorderly conduct.

• One person for shoplifting from Morgan’s Discount ($137.69).

    When Richmond Police went to Cody Shelton’s Kristin Drive apartment at 9:44 p.m. Wednesday to arrest him on a parole-violation charge, they said he attempted to elude them by hiding in the attic crawl space.

  • Mother pleads guilty to allowing child rape

    Deanna Lawson, charged with 20 counts of complicity in the rape and sodomy of a minor, pleaded guilty in Madison Circuit Court on Wednesday.
    Between October 2011 and September 2012, Eric Kelley had sexual relations with Lawson’s two daughters, according to court documents.
    She was charged with complicity after police said they learned Lawson knew of the crimes but didn’t try to stop them or alert authorities.

  • No extra jail time for parents on prostitution charge

    Anthony and Kathy Hart, two Madison County residents who pleaded guilty May 21 to prostituting their daughters, won’t be seeing any extra time in jail.
    Both parents, who served time in jail while their charges were pending, were sentenced to probation Thursday in Madison Circuit Court.

  • RPD arrests three on drug charges

    A couple is facing several charges after police said they sold drugs to an undercover officer late last year.
    In December 2013, the Richmond Police Narcotics Unit purchased a quantity of suboxone strips from Ryan Anderson, 30, and Chastity L. King, 28, on two occasions during a covert investigation, according to an RPD news release.

    A Detroit man who led police in a brief vehicle chase May 8 and then attempted to hide in a ditch will spend 120 days in jail after pleading guilty to reduced charges Wednesday in Madison District Court.
