RPD: Man drove intoxicated with child

RICHMOND — Richmond police charged Sean L. Chasteen, 26, of Curtis Pike, with first-degree wanton endangerment and driving under the influence Saturday after he was found driving intoxicated with a 3-year-old child in a vehicle, according to a police report.

An officer reported observing a vehicle operating erratically at 9:48 p.m. on the Eastern Bypass near Interstate 75. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer identified Chasteen as the driver and determined he was intoxicated. The officer discovered the child in the rear seat of the vehicle, the report stated.

Chasteen was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center then released the following day, according to the jail’s online records.

The child was released to adult relatives, the report stated.

Turpin Drive man charged with robbery

Police charged Cameron T. Murray, 24, of Turpin Drive, with second-degree robbery Saturday in connection with a Feb. 4 incident.

Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Turpin Drive to investigate a theft, according to the police report. Upon arrival, the officers learned Murray had entered the residence and attempted to take a relative’s bottle of prescription Percocets, the report stated. The relative resisted and a struggle ensued, but Murray was able to forcibly take the pills from the relative.

Murray then removed about 52 pills from the bottle and fled before police arrived, the report added. The relative complained of chest pains and was examined at the scene by EMS.

A warrant was issued Thursday for Murray’s arrest. According to the police, the victim obtained an emergency protection order barring Murray from having contact with the victim and another relative in the home.

Officers were dispatched to the same residence Saturday after receiving reports that Murray was there in violation of the order. Upon arrival, the police found Murray inside the home and took him into custody, the report stated.

Murray was lodged in the detention center, where he remained Monday morning, according to the jail’s online records.
