Driver charged with drug possession after traffic stop

BEREA — Berea Police arrested a man on drug charges after they reported finding a two types of pills in his possession after a June 24 traffic stop.

After stopping a car driven by Tyler Dehorty, 22, on Brenwood Drive for a minor traffic violation, police obtained consent to search the vehicle, the report stated.

Two plastic bags containing 28 hydrocodone pills and 40 clonopin pills were discovered, according to the report. A small amount of marijuana also was found in the car, it added.

Dehorty was charged with second- and third-degree possession of a controlled substance, prescription controlled substance not in proper container and possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Madison County Detention Center where he remained Tuesday afternoon, according to the jail’s online records.

From June 24 through Monday, Berea police made three DUI arrests, two of which involved collisions, one shoplifting arrest and one arrest for theft by deception that involved the pawning of rented items, according to Sgt. Jake Reed, BPD spokesperson.
