Douglas Court man charged with wanton endangerment

Register Staff Report

RICHMOND — Richmond police charged Robert P. Kesner, 35, of Douglas Court, Sunday with first-degree wanton endangerment after he allegedly grabbed the steering wheel of a vehicle his girlfriend was driving from Lexington to Richmond.

About 4:49 a.m., Kesner’s girlfriend told police that she and Kesner began arguing in Lexington. While driving back to Richmond, Kenser, the passenger, threatened to wreck the vehicle and grabbed the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to move erratically, the police report stated.

The girlfriend regained control of the vehicle and decided she would drive to the police department after arriving in Richmond. As she attempted to turn onto Lexington Road toward the police department, Kesner again grabbed the wheel and jerked it, nearly causing a collision, according to the report.

The woman then stopped the vehicle, and Kesner got out and walked away. Officers later located Kesner, questioned him and filed charges.

He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center where he remained Tuesday afternoon, according to the jail’s online records.
