RICHMOND — A police pursuit through Richmond ended in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday evening on Lexington Road near Exit 90.

Officers attempted to pull over Elijah Rono, 25, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, shortly before 6 p.m. on East Main Street. The 2012 Toyota he was driving had been reported stolen from Columbus, Ohio, according to a news release from Maj. Bob Mott.

Rono took off and struck two vehicles, driving on the wrong side of the road several times, the release stated.

The pursuit ended when Rono struck a truck head-on near the I-75 overpass on Lexington Road, Mott reported.

No one was injured in the accident except Rono, who was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was listed in serious condition shortly before noon Wednesday, according to a hospital official.

The southbound lanes of Lexington Road near the overpass were shut down while emergency personnel worked at the accident scene. Traffic was heavy as police officers waved vehicles through on the northbound lanes.

Rono was charged with receiving stolen property (more than $10,000), first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, operating on a suspended or revoked license, leaving the scene of an accident and speeding.
