Man charged with reselling employer’s equipment

Satellite TV items sold online

RICHMOND — A man who worked for a local satellite TV company has been charged with ordering extra equipment and selling it online.

Charles William Hensley, 39, of Manchester, worked for the Multiband Corporation at its Richmond office, according to a Richmond police report.

Multiband maintains DIRECTV’s installations, service and upgrades for single-family homes in 20 states and commercial sites nationwide.

A representative of Multiband contacted the RPD on March 31, stating that it appeared an employee in Richmond was “ordering excessive amounts of equipment and then reselling it on the internet rather than installing it at Multiband-approved locations.”

Hensley was identified by investigators as a suspect in the misappropriations, according to the report.

Some of the equipment shipped to Richmond and issued to Hensley later showed up in use in Florida where Multiband does not do business, the RPD reported. About $8,664 of equipment was sold online to an equipment dealer in Florida, and Hensley was allegedly connected to those sales.

A warrant was issued April 4 for Hensley’s arrest, charging him with theft by unlawful taking ($500 to $10,000) and theft by deception (under $10,000). He was found Wednesday on North Second Street and taken into custody.

Woman receives drug charges after shoplifting report

A Ravenna woman was arrested Wednesday by Richmond police following an alleged shoplifting incident at Kohl’s.

Stacey L. Ward, 41, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree promoting contraband, possession of burglary tools, illegal possession of a legend drug and theft by unlawful taking (under $500).

An officer was sent to Kohl’s at 3:52 p.m. to investigate a complaint about shoplifting, according to an RPD report. The officer learned that store employees observed Ward concealing items worth $387 and then exiting the store without paying, the report stated.

Employees detained Ward and summoned police.

The officer reported that after Ward was taken into custody, he searched her and found four baclofen pills and a pair of wire cutters used to cut tags from store merchandise.

Ward was taken to the Madison County Detention Center where a more thorough search found a small amount of methamphetamine in her possession, according to the RPD.
