A car containing what police believe was a one-step meth lab hit a telephone pole on Lancaster Avenue around 1:24 a.m. Friday, breaking the pole in half.
The driver abandoned the vehicle, leaving belongings of at least two people inside, according to Richmond Police Maj. Steve Gregg.
EKU police, who began the investigation, discovered a Mountain Dew bottle with a rubber hose inside a plastic bag in the front seat of the 1999 Mercury Sable, Gregg said.
The street was closed until 9:30 a.m. while narcotics officers collected the suspicious materials and cleaned up the site, he added.
Police have not released the names of those presumed to be the vehicle’s occupants but are searching for a man whose wallet was found inside the vehicle.
