MADISON COUNTY —
Richmond police are looking for Richard C. Duerson, 34, the suspect in a shooting about 1 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Manhattan Club, 221 E. Water St.
An officer heard gunshots downtown and was dispatched to the club shortly thereafter, according to the police report.
Upon arrival, officers found several bullet holes in the front glass door of the night club and discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the back of the leg, just above the bend of the knee, police said. The victim was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment of the non-life threatening injury.
Several Manhattan Club employees said Duerson was “escorted out” of the club, but Chief Larry Brock said he was uncertain of the “level of force applied to get him out.”
Duerson attempted to return, but was removed from the club a second time, he said.
Police gathered enough witness information to indicate that Duerson “brandished an item” and gunshots were heard shortly thereafter, Brock said.
The case remains under investigation, the chief said.
Anyone with information or tips about where Duerson may be found is asked to contact the Richmond Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 623-1162, Ext. 3054, or email police.richmond.ky.us.
