Register staff report

BEREA — Berea police arrested a couple early Friday morning following a vehicle pursuit that ended in a wreck.

Orville Rich-ardson, 30, of Richmond, and Whitley Bundy, 25, of Irvine, were both charged with receiving stolen property (under $10,000).

Richardson, who was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen, also was charged with first- and second-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident.

An officer noticed the vehicle in the parking lot of Indian Fort Theater and made contact with the occupants, Richardson and Bundy, according to a BPD report.

A registration plate check showed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Estill County, the report stated. The officer reported that Richardson took off in the vehicle and nearly hit the officer on his way out of the parking lot.

Richardson headed toward KY 21 East (Big Hill Road), but once on the highway he lost control and crashed through a fence onto Berea College property, the report stated.

Bundy stayed in the car, but Richardson fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later.
