O’Roarke Avenue apartment burglarized on Christmas Eve

RICHMOND — Several electronics, cash and a guitar were stolen Christmas Even from a O’Roarke Avenue home, according to the Richmond Police Department.

Residents of an apartment in the 100 block of O’Roarke Avenue reported Tuesday that their home had been unlawfully entered the prior day.

There were no signs of forced entry, according to the RPD.

The stolen items, worth a total of $2,193, included a Vizio 42-inch television, an LG 42-inch television, a Fender Stratocaster guitar, an Acer laptop computer, a Lenovo laptop computer, an Xbox 360 gaming console and $100 in cash.

Man accused of stealing road salt from city

Nathan E. Gibbs, 49, of Evansdale Avenue was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking (under $500).

Gibbs was discovered taking about 50 pounds of road salt from the Richmond Public Works garage on East Walnut Street, according to an RPD news release.

Gibbs was cited and released, the release stated.


Man charged with felony for possession of half a Percocet tablet

A Berea resident was charged with felony drug possession Dec. 20 after police found half a Percocet tablet in his vehicle.

Jerry Lewis, 61, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.

When officers responded to the home alarm in the 300 block of Jackson Street, they noticed a vehicle in the area with two people in it, according to a Berea Police Department news release.

As officers approached the vehicle, the two people got out and ignored commands to get back in the vehicle, the release stated.

The female passenger was unsteady on her feet, had slurred speech and blue pill residue up her nose, according to the BPD. She received a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication.

Lewis was the other occupant of the vehicle, according to the release.

The officers reported finding a small bag of marijuana, half a Percocet tablet and a marijuana pipe inside the vehicle.
