Breakall wins Twin Lakes National Fiddle championship

Special to the Register

BEREA — Bethany Breakall, 17, of Berea has represented Madison County and Madison Southern High School well by winner another fiddle championship.

She won first place in the junior category of the Twin Lakes National Fiddlers’ Championship in Leitchfield. The achievement earned her certification from the National Oldtime Fiddlers’ Association (NOTFA).
Bethany will have her picture posted in the NOTFA Hall of Fame in Weiser, Idaho. She also will have the opportunity to participate in the Certified Showcase Contest at the national competition in Weiser, Idaho.
Although the competition was fierce, Bethany’s calm demeanor and championship-level gave her the edge to finish on top. The “fiddle off” competition was fierce as she was up against seasoned fiddlers over age 60.
Bethany came in second place in the fiddle off at the end of the night, beating out the winner of the Junior Fiddle, Adult Fiddle and Senior Fiddle categories. She was only 17 points from the overall top spot and hopes to close that gap next year.
