Roadside clean-up set for Saturday

Paula Jones

Hello from Baldwin.

How is everyone’s week going? I hope that everyone is having a great one. We have once again had a little mixture of weather, cool, rain, warm and sunshine. One can never tell what the March weather will be. Have you noticed the buttercups blooming? I also saw some bushes and trees blooming. I even saw a redbud tree blooming! There is such beauty in spring as it comes to life.

According to my calendar, spring begins tomorrow, and I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to it.

The Baldwin Ruritan Club is sponsoring a community roadside cleanup on Saturday. The cleanup will start at 8:30 a.m. at the home of Alonzo Harvey, at 315 Whitlock Road. So, if you can help, come on out and help to make our community beautiful. Garbage bags will be furnished for the pickup and can be obtained a Alonzo’s.

Happy birthday wishes go out next week to Joshua Schwab and Mary Portwood on Sunday, Toots Wells on Monday, Kathy Bolton and a very dear friend, Diana Wells Ross, on Wednesday, Rodney Dixon and Emily Jones on Thursday, Kenneth (Red) Hendrix on Friday and Amy Dixon on Saturday. I hope that you all have a very happy birthday and many more happy ones to come.

I don’t have very much news this week. I do want to take this time to extend my deepest sympathy to the family of Ethel Collins of Poosey Ridge. What a great lady. Mrs. Collins lived to be 99 years old; we can only imagine the changes that she went through in her lifetime. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Collins’ family during this time of their loss. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

I guess that is all for now. Let me know if you hear any news. Just give me a call at 623-4579 or e-mail at
