Afternoon delight at Mt. Pleasant Church

Hello everyone. I was glad to see that Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church was conducting a Sunday afternoon service. The parking lot of the 1875 white wood frame building was full. Cars were parked in the grass to the front and back of the church. The function of the church still holds its own. The services are always special, because they are not done on a regular Sunday schedule. As I drove by, I thought of an afternoon delight with such a crowd for such a grand church.
Sunday will be a Mother’s Day celebration for the churches. The Kirksville Baptist Church will have a Mother’s Day breakfast. The men will be serving the mothers at 8:30 a.m. The men will be bringing breakfast foods, and helping to cook as well. I hope the cleanup will be by the men as well.
The Kirksville Baptist Church also will be having a baby dedication service on Mother’s Day. That will make this day even more special. Please let the pastor know if you are interested.
The Full Gospel Tabernacle will be having its Mother’s Day meal at 6 p.m. Saturday. The youth group will be cooking and serving those deserving mothers. The meal will consist of ham, green beans, mashed potatoes and a good desert.
The men of the Full Gospel Tabernacle will be doing cleanup in the fence line Saturday morning at 8:30. The members have really jumped in to make great improvements around the church. It takes a lot of work to keep up a church. The enthusiasm of the people is abounding at the church.
Susie’s Roundhill Store kicked off its barbecue cookout this past Sunday. The grill was fired up and the smell flowed throughout the Roundhill community. The next cookout will be May 18. Because it is every other Sunday, you will have to turn your nose toward the store to make sure that you don’t miss out.
There is another painted quilt block hanging now in our community. It is on Billy and Jackie Golden’s storage building at Roundhill. It is the American star. It was designed and painted by Ronnie Tussey.
