Hello readers.
The first day of spring brought a heavy frost to Paint Lick with patches of black ice all along the railroad and the cold temperature of 24 degrees was a big surprise from the day before when the high winds finally came to a halt.
The rampant winds were most likely the cause of a two-hour power outage up and down KY 52 East. We were not shorted on the beautiful sunshine, though. I wanted to stand out in those brilliant rays and just like the heat of summer, let the 45-50-degree days soak through my mind. Then, on Monday morning, I had no more than turned off the outside light and turned around, when I saw the prettiest snowfall of winter and it all came down in less than half an hour turning the whole world a sparkling white and that same stuff left as quickly as it came. Amazing, huh?
And looking out onto the most wonderful landscape of all was when I hit Hagan Hill. Allowing for the blackbirds in the old sycamore, there was an undisturbed quiet among all the fields that stretches with a blanket of dazzling snow. It was like looking at a picture!
This coming week will be the start of spring break for most people. Garrard County schools will be out for the week of March 31-April 4. The Paint Lick Family Clinic also will be closed for that week and reopen April 7. I pray that all drivers will take extra caution allowing for the children’s safety. Automobile accidents can claim a life in a matter of minutes. Please take care and drive with concern for that other person.
The Fifth Sunday Hymn Sing will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday at Fairview Christian Church. Everyone is welcome.
The Mt. Tabor Baptist Church will be conducted a revival April 6-11 starting at 7 p.m.
Then, Good Hope Baptist Church will conduct a revival Sunday, April 13, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. Evangelist Matt Johnson from Outreach Baptist Church will be the speaker.
Happy birthday to Jane Stephenson of The New Opportunity School for Women in Berea and to Rita Fox of Paint Lick next Wednesday and to Jamie Rhodus and Walter Jones next Thursday.
May God bless.
