Life can be so fast-paced, it can be difficult to find time to properly maintain your home landscape. A class titled “Horticulture on the GO!” will be offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 5, at the Madison County Extension Office.
This program is for families with children. During the first half of the program, the children and parents will be split up. The kids (ages 7 and older) will learn about planting seeds and the importance of plants, while the parents will be taught the basics of low-maintenance care for their lawns, flower beds, gardens and trees. For the last part of the program, families will be reunited to make a stepping stone for their garden.
The cost of this program is $15 and should be prepaid. Space is limited to 15 families, so please call ahead (623-4072) to reserve your seat.
Turf professionals
Estill County Extension Service will be offering a Turf Professionals Training Seminar on Monday, April 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Aldersgate Camp in Ravenna. Topics will include using pesticides safely, insect and weed identification, mole control and pesticide laws and regulations.
For certified pesticide applicators, there will be one specific and three general hours approved for categories three, 10, 18 and 20.
Pre-registration is required by Friday, April 3. The registration fee is only $10 and can be paid by cash or check. To register or gain more information, call the Estill County Extension Service at 1-606-723-4557.
