Right to Life Garage/ Yard Sale set April 19

Tim Jones

The Union City Community Sunrise service will be conducted at 7 a.m. Sunday at Union City Christian Church with Rick Brown of the Baptist Church speaking. The community is invited.

Because of weather, the Right to Life yard sale announced last week has been postponed.

Madison County Right to Life will have a garage/yard sale at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Habitat for Humanity building on US 25 North in Berea. (The former IGA Store.) For information, call Mary Ann Strunk at 623-8431. The local Right to Life group will have a Celebrate Life Banquet on April 10.

Union City Ruritan met Monday night. Guest speaker for the meeting was Charlotte Wong, Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates Education coordinator. She made her presentation and answered several questions to help educate the community about organ and tissue donation. Assisting Charlotte was EKU student Jessica Medley.

Union City Ruritan is selling $5 raffle tickets for drawings to be conducted on Union City Day, May 17. The prizes will include a $1,000 riding lawn mower, two weed trimmers, a leaf blower and several cash prizes. The two businesses supplying these products are Southern States and Ace/Bluegrass Hardware. You can get tickets from Ruritan members or call Robert Murphy at 623-9461.

From 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, the Union City Christian Church youth will have a breakfast in the church fellowship hall. There is not a set price, but donations will be accepted for the youth fund. On Saturday, March 29, Union City Ruritan will have a pancake breakfast from 6 to 10 a.m. Ruritan breakfast is $5.

A community sunrise service will be conducted at 7 a.m. Sunday at College Hill. The outdoor location is near the water treatment facility. If weather is too harsh, the service will be at College Hill United Methodist Church. Tim Jones is speaker for the event.

Flatwoods Christian at Waco will have a musical drama during the morning worship service Sunday at 10:45. The choir and other members of the church will present the resurrection story. Amanda Dunn, playing the part of Mary Magdalene, will be singing two songs written by Walter Compton. We think this will be a very special program everyone will want to experience.

Madison Hills Christian Church, Red House Road, Richmond, will present a program Sunday morning. “From the Cross to the Crown” by Jerry Ginnan. The story will cover 40 days between the cross and the ascension. This musical drama also will be repeated at 7 p.m. Monday for the public. Everyone is welcome. For more details, call the church at 623-0916.
