Madison County Right to Life will have a garage/yard sale Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. at the Habitat for Humanity building (the former IGA store) on U.S. 25 N in Berea. For information, call Mary Ann Strunk at 623-8431.
The local Right to Life group will have a Celebrate Life banquet April 10. We will have more information in future weeks.
Union City Ruritan will meet at 7 p.m. Monday. Following the meal, Charlotte Wong of Lexington will speak to the group. Charlotte is the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates Education coordinator. The purpose of her program is to share information about organ and tissue donation, to answer questions and to encourage people to discuss this topic within their families.
There are many misunderstandings about donation and transplantation, and this will be an opportunity to learn and seek honest answers to questions you’ve always wanted to ask. This is an informal and low key presentation. Many people are not aware of a new Kentucky Donor Registry in place, indicating an individual’s desire to be an organ donor. Men may want to invite wives to attend this meeting.
Union City Ruritan has begun selling $5 raffle tickets for drawings to be conducted May 17 on Union City Day. The prizes will include a $1,000 riding lawn mower, two weed trimmers, a leaf blower and several cash prizes. The two businesses supplying these products are Southern States and Ace/Bluegrass Hardware.
Union City will be the place for pancakes on two Saturdays this month. From 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, the Union City Christian Church youth will have a breakfast in the church fellowship hall. There is not a set price, but donations will be accepted for the youth fund. On Saturday, March 29, Union City Ruritan will have a pancake breakfast from 6 to 10 a.m.
Happy birthday to Darrell Allen and Justin Hunt today, Kathy Allen on Friday, Ruth Gross on Saturday, Kimberly Steele and Susan Kendrick on Sunday, Andrew McAfee on Tuesday and Emma Sue Noland on Wednesday.
