March Class to make Double Wine Basket

Special to the Register

RICHMOND — Sign up today for the March basket class at the Richmond Area Arts Center. February’s class is already filled so don’t put off reserving a spot in the March 29 class.

March class participants will weave their own handy and decorative basket suitable for storing two bottles of their favorite wine, the Double Wine Basket.

The class will begin at 9 a.m. at the Richmond Area Arts Center, 399 W. Water Street.

The Double Wine Basket features a tall oak handle created by start-and-stop weaving. The weaver may choose to add a decorative twine for more color. This basket ideal for storing wine and makes a great gift.

Teaching this “back-to-basics” class will be Jo Anne Carnes Park. Not only is she a beloved member of the Kentucky Basket Association and Richmond Area Arts Council Basket Guild, she has her own basket making business, Carnes Farm Creations.

She has been weaving baskets professionally for many years, and is eager to teach the Double Wine Basket class, noting that it is ideal for both beginners and veterans.

Tuition for the March 29 basket class is $50 and includes all materials needed.
