Decorative painting classes at RAAC in January

Special to the Register

RICHMOND — Get off to a great start in the new year with the first RAAC Art Class of 2014!

Classes will be conducted Jan. 15, 22 and 29 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Richmond Area Arts Center, 399 W. Water St.

This class will involve painting on tile – yes, tile like your kitchen floor.

These pieces of art can be used as trivets, placed in a holder and used to decorate your countertop, as coasters or next to your door as a way to display your home address.

Participants may select the project they prefer. Projects include: Wine & Grapes, French Country Cottage, Floral Address Tiles (which can also be made into coasters) or French Country Rooster.

Call today to register for classes taught by one of Richmond’s most talented artists, Jessie Arrowood.

The $15 supply fee for all three sessions is due upon registration. Each of the three class sessions is an additional $14 per week.

No prior painting experience is necessary. Jessie Arrowood, the instructor, will guide you through the process and provide assistance as needed. Make plans to attend these classes and bring out your inner artist.

Jessie and her husband, Bill, moved to Richmond 10 years ago. She discovered her love for painting as a young mother, when she took her first Tole Painting class. She has painted on tin, canvas, wood and furniture. For Jessie painting is therapeutic, and any problem seems smaller with a paint brush in her hand, she says. It is her desire for her students to enjoy painting as much as she does.
