October class to make Spooner Basket

Special to the Register

RICHMOND — Weave your own Spooner Basket on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The class will begin 9 a.m. at the Richmond Area Arts Center, 399 W. Water St.

The Spooner is a versatile basket designed by the instructor, Joanne Dunaway. It is woven on a 4-inch round base and stands 4.75 inches tall.

Tuition for this class is $40, and at its conclusion, you will leave with a beautiful basket woven by you.

The Spooner Basket is great for storing spoons, pencils, straws, or many other items, Dunaway said. She has been weaving for 10 years and learned from two of RAAC’s veteran basket instructors, Janice Luxon and Judy Ridings, who will be assisting with the class.

To register, call RAAC at 624-4242 or email debbie@artsinrichmond.org .
