Valley View Ferry is closed because of high water, but the ferry is set to be closed longer for cable replacement. The cable repairs are to begin Monday, Jan. 21. Valley View Ferry connects Madison, Fayette and Jessamine counties and is used by an average of 300 to 350 cars a day. In the summer, the number of users can increase to about 500 a day. The Valley View Ferry Authority apologizes to the public for the upcoming down time, Madison County Magistrate Roger Barger said.
